Many people often ask the same question. How can I make a profound difference? We often think those in high positions of power affect change. Philip Hoose disposes this viewpoint through his biographical account of Knud Pederson. The Danish government's capitulation to the Nazi occupation angered 14 year old Catholic student Knud. In hopes of creating national resistance to the new regime, Knud, along with his brother Jens, and a group of others boys formed RAF (British Royal Air Force). Knud and Jens later created the Churchill Club when their family moved out of the area. Inspired by the neighboring countries like Norway who fought against Germany, RAF and the Churchill Club sought to sabotage the Nazi controlled Danish government through any means possible-from spraying canning road signs, damaging Nazi controlled businesses, stealing weapons from soldiers at local hangouts, etc. Eventually, the Danish cooperation with the Nazis was challenged with the arrest and imprisonment of the club members. Despite their harsh punishment, RAF and Churchill Club inspire a national revolt.
