Jennifer A. Nielsen, author of the False Prince series, narrates a gripping tale of a family separated by the Berlin Wall. After four years of separation, Gerta sees her her father Alodus & brother Dominick on the western side of Berlin for the first time. However, she can't communicate with them because they are considered traitors by the eastern government. Already branded because of their association Alodus, Gerta and her brother Fritz develop a plan for escape. Yet they understand the costs of this decision: absolute secrecy even from their mother and possible death.
Samantha wakes up from a comatose state with no recollection of her identity. She learns she was found on a rocky lake near town while her best friend Cassie remains missing. As Samantha learns more about herself, she dislikes the person she had become-snobby & cruel to many of her classmates. She also becomes attracted to her brother Scott's best friend Carson over her popular boyfriend Del. Yet, Samantha fails to recollect what happened on that fateful night and someone very close to her will go to desperate measures to hide the truth.
