For those of you who plan on attending a four year college immediately upon graduation, I have no doubt you are well towards completing applications due on Wednesday November 30, 2011 fo most schools like CSU and UC. Check for the specific filing dates for private universities. After you complete this step, take a look at the following PPTs created by me and Ms. Paramo for guidance on paying for higher education. Red Ribbon Week reminds us of the dangers of alcohol and drug use. I discussed many beneficial resources on last year's blog. They are located at the October 2010 archives section at Geltch Colton School Libraries http://youthadvocate.weebly.com/ You will also find a list of YA fiction on this topic at the Books section of this website. The above illustration states it best; "Drug Free is the Key".
Image located at http://www.cenpatico.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/DrugFree09Final.JPG The CHS library will sponsor events in support of ALA's Teen Read Week from Wednesday October 19-Friday October 28, 2011. First, visitors may vote on the best ALA Teen Read of the Year from the top ten choices selected in September. Mr. Calderon and I will each purchase the winning book to add to the library collection. Students may also participate in Teen Read Week book contest in either the art or multimedia contest. English and/or Art teachers may reward extra credit for participants. The winners for each categorywill also receive either a favorite book or Barnes & Noble gift certificate. Information is included Word file below. I look forward to examining your literary choices.
