For those of you who are expecting a romantic Cinderella love story will either be disappointed or pleasantly surprised by Marissa Meyer's Cinder. Meyer weaves three storylines into a modern day twist of the Cinderella story. Cinder, like her fairytale predecessors must endure life with an overbearing & vindictive stepmother Adri. Cinder uses her skills as a cyborg, half human & half android, to support the family as a mechanic in post World IV Bejing. Cinder meets Prince Kai for the first time when he comes to get his android, who is carrying important government secrets, repaired. When Cinder's younger stepsister & only friend Peony becomes infected with deadly leumotosis during a work visit, Adri blames Cinder & forces her to participate in the cyborg experimental program for a cure. As a result, Cinder's path once again crosses with Prince Kai. During this epic struggle, Kai confronts the reality of assuming the throne & being forced in arranged marriage with the enemy lunar queen Leovana if his Emperor father doesn't survive the horrific plague.
The dramatic conclusion at the normally traditional ball paves the wave for the second installment of the Lunar series Image located at http://www.goodreads.com/book/photo/11235712-cinder

Recently, there has been a lot of rhetoric on "the war on women" in the U.S political arena. Large numbers of young women are enduring such anguish in many Arab countries. In her harrowing biography, Nujood Ali narrates her struggle against an arranged marriage to a man three times her age at merely 10 years old. Ali's quick & easy-to-read account serves as a reminder of the many blessings & opportunities for women in the U.S and other industrialized nations.
