At each of my respected school libraries, Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games series is the rage. The books simply fly off the shelves. What are other comperable titles either for those waiting for library book returns or searching for something else? Recently, I came across this amazing visual display from a Pinterest search. It's hyperlinked from Busy Brunettes.com. The ladies justify their reasons for placing these works as the next dystopic work in line. I agree with some of their selections, but not others. Check out thsee titles and decide for yourself.

After getting caught stealing a leg of chicken, Sage, a sly & rebellious teen aged orphan, is taken hostage by Regent Conner, along with three other boys. Conner designs a two week competition to determine which boy will best impersonate the long lost prince Jaron. The stakes couldn't be higher-be chosen or be killed...
If you like Jonathan Auxier's Peter Nimble & his fantastic eyes, you will thoroughly enjoy the False prince. The parallels between Sage and Peter's characteristics and experiences are uncanny. Consider voting for this adventure saga as CHS YA 2012 book of the year. It didn't disappoint in the least. An unlikely friendship between high school gymnast Danny & all star fullback Kurt develops dispite peer pressure & trying circumstances. Leverage opens up legitimate discussions on bullying & winning at all costs through Danny and Kurt's narrative voices. It's a must read for anyone who interacts with teenaged students. Cohen's Leverage truly deserves the ALA recognition.

The trailers & book cover summary of Grave Mercy only scratch the surface. The plot thickens beyond the assassinations & forbidden love story. Be prepared for regional turmoil, spiritual conflict, and betrayal. It's a time consuming, yet worthwhile endeavor to uncover LaFever's intricate characterizations of the main players of an epic political struggle.
